Kicking it: Jenkins hinted at calling it a day with Bath

Wales' kicking coach Neil Jenkins has hit back at the criticism he has received in light of taking up a part-time role with Bath.

Jenkins, the former Wales and British and Irish Lions kicking ace, has been working on a part-time basis with Bath.

However there was stern opposition to this move, especially given that Bath's chief kicker is Butch James - who will more than likely line up for South Africa against Wales in November.

Jenkins was quick to defend his decision, claiming people were making a mountain out of a molehill, although he did hint he may cut ties with Bath due to the criticism.

"I am sick and tired of the criticism I have been getting this week over my work at Bath," Jenkins told The Western Mail.

"Some of the reaction this week has been narrow-minded nonsense. It is pathetic to think only Welsh coaches can work with Welsh players.

"It is absurd to suggest I would somehow be giving away secrets from the Welsh camp. I have not been working at Bath every week since July, I have done only five sessions there.

"I was due to do a few more but after all this sorry fuss I really don't think I will carry on."
