Out of the way: Back is off to Leeds allowing a new coach to take control
Leicester are making way for their new Director of Rugby and look set to pick between Dai Young and Heyneke Meyer.
Of those candidates interviewed for the vacant job all expressed their concern that Neil Back and Richard Cockerill were remaining in their Assistant Coach positions.
An inside source revealed to Planet Rugby on Tuesday that Neil Back is set to take over as Director of Rugby at Leeds, meaning Young or Meyer would both be in line to take over at Welford Road.
Young, currently in charge with the Cardiff Blues, was interviewed for the job on Tuesday and subsequently offered the position. He was eager to accept the position, only to see the Blues refuse his request of an early release from his contract.
As Young has had his path blocked by his current employers, and unless a solution is found, it leaves South African Meyer free to step in.
With Cardiff Blues' backer, Peter Thomas, on holiday it looks like Leicester will have to wait if they are to get Dai Young. But with pre-season set to start next week they will want the situation resolved as soon as possible.
That may play into Meyer's hands, as he is currently not employed in a coaching capacity, although he had been heavily-linked with a job at Stade Français before Ewen McKenzie took over from Fabien Galthie.
