Tough turnaround: Cipriani to rest in EDF opener

Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani has been forced to pull out of their EDF Energy Cup game with Gloucester at Kingsholm due to a sore ankle.

Director of Rugby Ian McGeechan broke the news pre-game after the 20-year-old felt the effects of Wednesday's defeat to Bath at Adams Park - with three days proving insufficient for recovery.

Cipriani played for 51 minutes in that Guinness Premiership game - his first since suffering a horrific ankle injury more than four months ago.
