Western Province and Stormers wing Egon Seconds has not been offered a new WP contract, with the former SA Sevens man on the look out for a new deal ahead of 2008.
The winger, who was out of commission for most of this season after injuring a hamstring, on Tuesday confirmed to Die Burger that WP had decided not to retain his services.
The 26-year-old, who scored 77 tries in 88 matches for Western Province, is hopeful of securing a new deal elsewhere, but the rumour mill has suggested that he could call time on his professional career.
"I've heard those rumours myself. I'm thinking about it," he told the newspaper when asked about the possibility of retiring. "It's difficult when you've been with WP all these years. I have not yet negotiated with the other provinces."
Talk of retirement aside; it seems that first prize, at this stage for Seconds, is a new contract and a fresh start with a new team.
"I've played here, in the Western Province, all these years and it's difficult to come to terms with the idea that it's over," he said. "But all good things do come to an end."
Seconds - who has been overlooked in favour of the likes of Fijian Sireli Naqelevuki and Lions wing Wylie Human, who has just signed with WP - concluded: "My heart will always be here [at WP]. However, I will give 100% in any provincial team for which I play."
