Wyn Jones warns Leicester

Point to prove: Wyn Jones and the Ospreys have plenty to prove on Saturday

Wales and Ospreys second row Alun Wyn Jones insists his side will unleash their Heineken Cup hurt on Leicester this Saturday.

The two sides clash in this season's EDF Energy Cup final at Twickenham on Saturday, with the Ospreys still hurting after their Heineken Cup quarter-final exit at the hands of Saracens last weekend.

Jones, who has fast become a key member of the Ospreys pack this season, has promised Leicester that his side will not be holding back on Saturday.

"There's no better way than to get over Sunday's disappointment than to win a final at Twickenham," Jones told BBC Sport Wales.

"And we haven't beaten Leicester in our three or four meetings, so there are a few demons to put to bed."

It has been a disappointing season thus far for the big-spending Ospreys and Jones feels it is just a matter of time before the region establishes itself as a force in Europe.

"We have shown flashes of big-game mentality," said the 22-year-old forward.

"We need to develop a consistency and maintain it for a season.

"But we're going in the right direction and it's not a case of if we'll win things, it is when."

Jones was shocked after Saracens beat his Ospreys 19-10 at Vicarage Road on Sunday and he admitted the errors cost them dear.

"We used up a season's quota of mistakes in one game," he said.

"We can't dwell on our defeat, we must regain focus for a vital run-in.

"We're still not guaranteed Heineken Cup qualification through the Magners League so the next six games are huge for us."

Leicester raced into a 28-9 lead in last season's Anglo-Welsh showpiece and despite a brave second-half comeback from the Ospreys, the Tigers held on to win 41-35.

"Hopefully we can exert ourselves in the second-half so we're not playing catch-up again," said Jones.

"Leicester will have their traditional tough mentality with a confrontational front five, a ball-carrying back row, a decent set-piece and creative backs.

"They have quality running through their side but so do we and we intend to show it this week."
