Schalk Brits: 'We'll entertain you'
The famous rock group Queen had a hit song called 'Let me entertain you'. A few other artists - including British pop megastar Robbie Williams - had songs with the same title, but few could entertain like Queen.
In fact, when it comes to entertainment, few rugby teams can entertain like the famous Barbarians and that is exactly what they are promising to do when they face South Africa in a year-ending 'international' at Twickenham this weekend.
"If you see the talent that we've got, it's going to be an open type of game," said Stormers hooker Schalk Brits, who will make his debut for the 'Black-'n-Whites' on Saturday.
"We will entertain the crowd and entertain everybody that will come to Twickenham."
Whilst the Baa-baas are determined to play within the spirit and traditions of their well-known approach to the game, Brits was quick to point out that it would not be a 'willy-nilly' approach to running and passing.
"It's actually quite tough for us because we've only got four practice sessions together," said the Stormers star.
"Obviously we can't put that much structure into four practice sessions.
"Also, the many players from different countries in the side makes it a different kind of backline, but that also makes it a lot more exciting."
Like any rugby game, no backline can play without the ball and Brits is well aware of the fact that the Baa-baas will up against one of the most physically intimidating packs in the world - the Springboks.
Even without stars like captain John Smit (on French club duty), as well as locks Victor Matfield (personal reasons) and Bakkies Botha (injured), the Bok pack has a menacing and confrontational look to it.
"Of course the Boks have a great pack - as we saw throughout the World Cup and last week [in the 34-12 win over Wales in Cardiff]," Brits said.
"It is going to be tough, to be honest, but we're keen for the match-up and looking forward to it."
