Dai Rees, who suddenly quit his post as Wales Sevens coach last week, could be in line for the vacant Canada Head Coach position.
Rees, who has coached Wales at Under-19, 20 and 21 levels, and also coached the Women's national team as well as the Sevens and maintaining a role as an assistant coach at the Dragons, said he had left the Sevens post because of the time he was spending away from his family.
He also indicated his desire to secure a long-term coaching contract, and a report on the BBC said he had been linked to the Canada job.
"I have enjoyed my role as the Sevens team coach enormously, but it is a huge commitment in terms of time away from the Dragons and my family," he said.
"I feel having made up my mind to go it would be wrong to stay in position."
