Lolo Lui is rearing to go in the 2007/08 IRB Sevens
Western Samoa coach Galumalemana Rudolf Moors on Thursday named only one World Cup player in his squad of 12 to contest the first two legs of the 2007/08 International Rugby Board (IRB) Sevens World Series.
A considerable amount of pressure will rest on the shoulders of Lolo Lui, the only player in the current Sevens squad who played in this year's 15-man World Cup.
The 25-year-old has tremendous pace and upper body strength, which will stand him in good stead in this form of the game.
However, the team will miss the services of last season's top try-scorer Mikaele Pesamino for the first two legs of the series - which kick off in Dubai at the end of this month.
Pesamino proved to be a match-winner for the islanders on several occasions en route to scoring 43 tries in the 2006/07 season.
The Samoans put on a very competent performance in the last series, finishing in a very respectable third place - just eight points behind the winners New Zealand.
The second leg of the tournament will be in George on December 7 and 8.
